Rail Physics LLC was founded by Walter Rosenberger in 2023. Walter has been railroading for over 25 years, with key positions at Rail Sciences Inc., Norfolk Southern Research & Tests, and MxV Rail. With a passion for problem solving and an eye for process improvement, he seeks to share his knowledge and expertise for the betterment of the industry.
At Rail Physics LLC, Walter specialize in derailment analysis coaching, derailment cause-finding training, and derailment prevention consulting. He works with railroads, from short lines to class 1's, equipment owners/lessors, infrastructure owners, operating entities, and others in the rail industry.
By helping railroads focus on derailment prevention through accurate root cause-finding, Walter aligns the three key performance indices in the rail industry: safety, efficiency, and reliability.

Chris Borden is the Vice President at CBIZ McRail, specializing in risk management and insurance for the rail industry.
Chris has extensive experience in insurance and risk management, particularly focused on railroad and rail-related clients. He is part of a dedicated team at CBIZ McRail, which is known for its proactive approach to risk management, helping clients navigate their insurance needs effectively.
McRail is part of CBIZ, Inc., one of the largest financial services companies in the U.S., with over 40 years of experience in the rail insurance sector. The firm is dedicated to providing comprehensive insurance solutions tailored to the unique needs of the railroad industry.
Chris is involved with many railroad association, and he is the Secretary of the Keystone State Railroad Association.
Jim Cassatt

Jim began his railroad carrier with Conrail in Enola, PA, working as an Electrician at the locomotive shop before promoting to Train Dispatcher for the Harrisburg Division. After the division was consolidated, Jim worked as a yardmaster in Lancaster and Reading, PA.
On June 1, 1999, after “split date”. Jim went back to Train Dispachting with Norfolk Southern until he left to join the FRA in 2001. He started as an Operating Practices Inspector in Philadelphia, PA, then later transferred to the to the Toledo, OH, territory.
In 2016, Jim was detailed to the Federal Transit Administration for the WMATA oversight, concentrating on the dispatching operations. During the detail, he was promoted to Chief Inspector for SMT-2 covering OH, PA, WV, VA, MD, DE, MI, and KY, auditing 219/225 on Class II and Class III railroads.
